The drive behind this album came from incindents over the winter of 2013-2014, during which an Elder on the Rosebud Reservation froze to death due to a lack of propane when, not far to the north of her, a MILLON DOLLARS PER DAY worth of natural gas is flared off because of a lack of infrastructure and because the oil beneath it is worth a few dollars more.
WE must all help each other and we must all give back to that which sustains us. In that spirit, all funds raised from this album will be donated to “One Spirit” (nativeprogress.org
) who helps the youth as well as with wood, propane and food on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
This album is dedicated to all Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island and to those who believe that everyone and everything is related and who fight for that balance.
I want to offer a huge and very special Thank You to Jiibay Shadow Dancer, John Trudell and Leonard Peltier for their inspiration and ongoing willingness to fight despite everything and, though he has walked on, to Vine Deloria Jr. for his guidance on decolonizing my thinking.
